Getting Started
Here are the game controls for Last Flag.
Here are the fundamentals of the game:
Contestant Selection: Before a match begins, you have 60 seconds to select your starting contestant. Each has different weapons, abilities, and playstyles.
During contestant selection, you can also volunteer to be the flag hider for your team. If no one volunteers, someone will be picked at random. If multiple people volunteer, one of the volunteers are randomly chosen.
The Green Room: This is where you start the match, respawn, and can swap contestants. In the Green Room you will also find:
- Pyramid Tubes: Enter any of the tubes on the left side of the Green Room to teleport near your home base (a.k.a. your “Pyramid”).
- Radar Tower Tubes: Tubes labeled “A,” “B,” and “C” on the right side of the Green Room will teleport you to radar towers that are under your team’s control.
You can change contestants any time you are in the Green Room by pressing [H / D-Pad Right] to bring up the contestant selection menu.
Flag Hiding: After leaving the Green Room for the first time, one person on your teamwill have 60 seconds tohide the flag (almost) anywhere on your half of the map.
- The rest of the team can hunt golden cashbots to earn extra upgrade money for the start of match.
Cash Bots: Throughout the match, cashbots periodically spawn on both sides of the map. Find and destroy them to earn money for your team. Use your money to purchase ability upgrades.
Abilities: Each contestant has powerful primary, secondary, and ultimate abilities. Many also have alt-fire and passive abilities.
- Ability Upgrades: You can spend cash you’ve earned during the match to permanently upgrade your primary, secondary, and ultimate abilities. Upgrades will carry over if you swap contestants.
- Ability Info: Press and hold the [F1 / D-Pad Left] during a match to read descriptions of your contestant’s abilities and ability upgrades at any time.
Ability Upgrades only last for the duration of the map. They do not carry over to subsequent matches.
Radar Towers: Labeled “A,” “B,” and “C” in the game world and on your minimap, radar towers are capture points that you can take control of to gain 4 vital benefits:
- Intel - Every few seconds, a radar tower your team controls will mark a randomly selected tile on the minimap in red in its corresponding sector to signal that the flag is NOT hidden there.
- Fast travel - Teleport to radar towers you control using the tubes on the right side of the green room.
- Healing - Stand near the center of the radar tower to quickly heal up.
- Extra Time - during the Flag Defense phase (see further) the team trying to get their flag back has a minimum of 60 seconds to recover their flag from the enemy Pyramid. However, for every Radar Tower they own at the time Flag Defense begins, they are allotted extra time (up to a maximum of 90 seconds in total).
Flag Finding: Once you’ve found the enemy flag, pick it up and run it back across the map. Then, place it in the center of your team’s pyramid and get ready to defend it.
- You cannot drop the flag or use abilities while carrying it, but you can fire your weapon.
- Carrying the flag also means that your stamina will drain when sprinting - you have to think about when to sprint and when to run.
Flag Defense: After planting the enemy flag in your team’s pyramid, you must defend it from the opposing team for at least 60 seconds. If you are successful, your team will claim victory!
- If your enemies take their flag back, it will return to its original hiding position.
- Holding Radar Towers at the beginning of flag defense affects how much time the attacking team has to return the flag. Each tower held increases the time from the default 60 seconds.
Overtime: If the match is in a stalemate after 15 minutes, it will enter overtime. Both flag locations will be revealed, and the first team to bring the enemy flag back to their pyramid will immediately be victorious.
- Overtime only kicks in if both flags are in their original hiding locations. If any flag is held by an enemy at the 15-minute mark, then overtime will be pending until both flags are returned to their hiding spots.
Points Victory: If no team has won after 5 minutes of overtime, the match will be decided based on which team has earned more points throughout the match.
- Points victory triggers even if overtime is pending instead of active.
